Flex, also known as Migh in Germany[1][2] and Aркан (Arkan, "Lasso") in Russia,[3] is an Alpha Team minifigure first introduced in a 2000 video game before making a physical debut in 2001.
Description
In LEGO Alpha Team, Flex wears the general black jumpsuit with an Alpha Team globe insignia on his left torso. He has an orange stripe from his right shoulder down to his right leg, matching his bright orange bright sleeve. He has ropes slung across his torso, from his right shoulder to his left hip, representing his expertise. On his belt, he has three grey capsules and two pouches. He also has two pockets on his thighs and a kneepad directly below. His gloves are grey. He wears a black Flying Helmet that is modified with extra textures and a ring for attaching rope to Flex's Helmet Dangler. His face bears a very large open-mouthed smile and a comm headset.
In 2001, Flex's physical minifigure very closely resembles his video game design, albeit with simpler details on the ropes and capsules as well as an unmodified Flying Helmet.
In Mission Deep Sea, Flex's minifigure wears an almost identical outfit, but in earth blue instead of black. Instead of rope, he now wears what appears to be a sort of industrial wire across his chest. As with other Alpha Team agents, his hip and leg printing has been updated to match the style of the Mission Deep Sea uniform, eschewing the pockets and kneepads in favor of orange and grey striping. His Flying Helmet has been replaced with a dark grey Mini Crash Helmet with a transparent blue Divers Mask and a dark grey Oxygenbottle With Tube. His face printing slightly shrinks his smile and gives him visible orange/silver hair, with bangs extending over his right eye.
In Mission Deep Freeze, Flex wears a completely different outfit: a black jumpsuit with orange overalls and the new triangular Alpha Team insignia in the centre. He wears a silver belt, and his legs continue the overall straps. He retains the bright orange right sleeve but his gloves are now black. This is an orange variant of Charge's uniform in the same mission. He wears a black Mini Pixie Cap instead of his previous helmets. His face print has been completely overhauled and reduces his huge smile to a wide smirk, gives him stubble, removes his hair from Mission Deep Sea, and gives him sunglasses.
Background
Flex is the climbing and ropes expert of Alpha Team. He always has a smile on his face and enjoys telling jokes and watching comedies, as shown in the Alpha Team Intelligence Database. On the LEGO Alpha Team website, Flex is described as a reckless eccentric who relies on his ropes and luck, and his style is compared to Mel Gibson as Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon.[3]
In the LEGO Alpha Team video game, Flex is captured by the Evil OGEL Empire while infiltrating Ogel's hidden compounds and searching for the D.O.O.M. Machine. He is held captive in a Trouble Tube. In the PC version, he is held in the Deep Sea Orb Factory and is rescued during the mission "Rescue Flex!". In the GBC version, he is held in the Arctic Command Base and is rescued in "Snow Jumping". His equipment focuses largely on ropes and pulleys.
In Flex's classic training assignment, Flex and a Skeleton Drone compete to climb a skyscraper and retrieve a data encoder from a crashed communication satellite. In his Mission Deep Sea training assignment, Flex uses his Sub-Surface Scooter to retrieve Ethanium crystals and undo the sea creatures' mutations.[4]
In Adventures in LEGO World: Rescue From Dino Island, Flex drives the Alpha Team ATV and distracts a mind-controlled Tyrannosaurus rex and its Skeleton Drone rider. He drives towards a seemingly docile Parasaurolophus but quickly turns around when it transforms into a Spinosaurus.
The Minifig Handbook's Alpha Team Intelligence Database includes Flex's "to do" list (detangling and cataloguing his rope collection and cooking brownies for movie night) and journal entry. Flex's journal explains his absence from Into the Deep, revealing that he was bungee jumping and rock climbing while on vacation.
In Ogel's Fortress, Flex is a playable character piloting the Chill Speeder.

Flex is the team's ropes expert. He's definitely the wacky member of the team and usually correctly follows orders more by luck than judgement! |

Notes
- LEGO Alpha Team lead designer Tom Mott believes that Flex's design resembles the game's lead animator Kevin Jackson, although he is unsure whether this is intentional or merely coincidental.[5]
- In the Russian version of LEGO Alpha Team, Flex's name is changed to Aркан, the Russian word for "lasso".[3] This is not the case in the Russian version of LEGO Adventures! Magazine, which faithfully renders Flex's name as Флекс.[6]
